Holi is celebrated by Hindus in spring season as festival of colors. It marks the ending of cold winter season and starting of the summer season. In the past, holi used to be celebrated using natural colors like turmeric, sandalwood past, flower extracts etc. As commercial availability of commercial colors has increased, natural colors have been replaced with synthetic colors made using dyes.
