There are many of us who were more than once left baffled at the end of an English Department conference. The reason would be that one feels as though all the people in the Department use a secret code language of high-sounding words like "problematic" and "politically incorrect" and neutral sentence structures with lots of "perhaps" and "however". The need for jargon to be generously thrown in is understandable especially in paper presentations, perhaps to put across the accurate idea. ...
